R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Sierra Francis of McKinney won first place in the |
|
|
Heifer Superintendent's Beef Challenge at the Fort Worth Stock Show |
|
|
and Rodeo on January 26, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This unique competition is open to high school |
|
|
seniors who have participated in the Fort Worth Stock Show Junior |
|
|
Breeding Beef Heifer Show for at least two years; the challenge |
|
|
requires students to answer questions testing their knowledge of |
|
|
the livestock industry and beef cattle production and to present a |
|
|
sales pitch for the breed of heifer they are exhibiting; first place |
|
|
winners receive a $12,000 scholarship to help pay for their college |
|
|
education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A senior at McKinney Boyd High School, Ms. Francis |
|
|
serves as president of the Future Farmers of America and of the |
|
|
McKinney 4-H Club; a regular competitor at livestock shows, she |
|
|
previously won a scholarship at the 2012 San Antonio Livestock Show |
|
|
and captured first place English and showmanship trophies at the |
|
|
Collin County Livestock Show; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan is also a member of the |
|
|
National Honor Society and Key Club, and she is currently working |
|
|
toward her Gold Award with the Girl Scouts by creating a livestock |
|
|
show for individuals with special needs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sierra Francis has distinguished herself through |
|
|
her commitment to excellence and her perseverance in the pursuit of |
|
|
her goals, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sierra Francis for winning the 2013 |
|
|
Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Heifer Superintendent's Beef |
|
|
Challenge and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Francis as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
