R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Wendy Sierra has been named a Fulbright-Hays Fellow
  by the International Education Programs Service; and
         WHEREAS, An initiative of the U.S. Department of Education,
  IEPS works to meet the national needs for expertise and competence
  in foreign languages and area or international studies; included
  among its offerings is the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program,
  which provides short-term study and travel seminars for U.S.
  educators in the social sciences and humanities for the purpose of
  improving their understanding and knowledge of the people and
  culture of other countries; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Sierra, a geography teacher at East View High
  School in Georgetown, was one of only 16 individuals chosen to
  participate in a five-week trip to India, which will include visits
  to religious sites in rural and urban areas; and
         WHEREAS, Wendy Sierra has demonstrated the passion,
  determination, and commitment that are the hallmarks of our best
  teachers, and her efforts have been fittingly recognized with the
  remarkable opportunity she has been given to further her own
  education; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Wendy Sierra on being named a
  Fulbright-Hays Fellow and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success with her important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Sierra as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
