R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Wendy Sierra has been named a Fulbright-Hays Fellow |
|
by the International Education Programs Service; and |
|
WHEREAS, An initiative of the U.S. Department of Education, |
|
IEPS works to meet the national needs for expertise and competence |
|
in foreign languages and area or international studies; included |
|
among its offerings is the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program, |
|
which provides short-term study and travel seminars for U.S. |
|
educators in the social sciences and humanities for the purpose of |
|
improving their understanding and knowledge of the people and |
|
culture of other countries; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Sierra, a geography teacher at East View High |
|
School in Georgetown, was one of only 16 individuals chosen to |
|
participate in a five-week trip to India, which will include visits |
|
to religious sites in rural and urban areas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Wendy Sierra has demonstrated the passion, |
|
determination, and commitment that are the hallmarks of our best |
|
teachers, and her efforts have been fittingly recognized with the |
|
remarkable opportunity she has been given to further her own |
|
education; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Wendy Sierra on being named a |
|
Fulbright-Hays Fellow and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success with her important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Sierra as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
