R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Linda Jo Soliz became the first woman elected to
  serve as a commissioner of Jim Hogg County when she earned a
  majority of Precinct 1 votes in 2012; and
         WHEREAS, Raised by a family known for its civic engagement,
  Ms. Soliz is the daughter of Jose Gonzalez, who served as county
  treasurer for more than 19 years until his passing, and the daughter
  of Alicia Gonzalez, who served out her husband's term; in addition,
  Ms. Soliz's uncle, Primitivo Gonzalez, is a former Precinct 1
  commissioner; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Soliz herself followed in her father's
  footsteps to become county treasurer in 1990, and she remained in
  that post for more than two decades; her three-year term as Precinct
  1 commissioner began on January 1, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Soliz enjoys the
  support and encouragement of her husband, Robert Soliz, as well as
  their children, Jo Ann and Susana; the couple's family also
  includes three treasured grandchildren, Trisha Ann, Joe Robert, and
  JoDee Lynn Stacy; and
         WHEREAS, Linda Jo Soliz has distinguished herself through her
  commitment to public service, and she is helping to make Jim Hogg
  County an even better place in which to live and work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Linda Jo Soliz on her election as
  the first female commissioner of Jim Hogg County and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Commissioner Soliz as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
