R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The life of an accomplished Texan drew to a close
  with the passing of Rebecca Watson Carroll of Arlington on October
  17, 2012, at the age of 66; and
         WHEREAS, Born on October 14, 1946, to Marion and John Watson,
  Becky Watson was raised in Dallas and was a member of the B. A.
  Belles drill team while a student at Bryan Adams High School; she
  went on to enroll at Stephen F. Austin State University, where she
  was active in the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority; during her freshman
  year, she met the love of her life, Christopher Carroll, and they
  married in 1969, shortly after she earned her bachelor's degree;
  the couple later became the parents of two beloved children, James
  and Katie; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Carroll taught high school English in Lewisville
  for two years before spending six years with the Woodbine
  Development Company in Dallas as its liaison with the community and
  elected officials and as its director of marketing; in 1980, she and
  her husband entered the restaurant business and founded Spring
  Creek Barbeque; they later added a Mexican restaurant and then two
  other restaurant brands, expanding from one location in Richardson
  to a business that today includes 45 locations and more than 2,000
  employees; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Carroll excelled in each of her myriad
  responsibilities with Spring Creek Companies; she was greatly
  admired for treating employees like family, and she encouraged
  academic success among student workers by developing grade-bonus,
  tuition-assistance, and award programs; in addition, she guided the
  business's efforts to reach out to the local community by
  supporting churches, schools, charities, and civic groups; and
         WHEREAS, An individual of many talents, Becky Carroll
  approached all of her endeavors with strength, honesty, and
  compassion, and she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to
  inspire others for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Becky Carroll and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Christopher Carroll; to her children, James and Katie
  Carroll; to her sisters and their husbands, Ginni and J. Robinson
  and Nancy and Jim Mook; to her brother, Scott Watson; to her
  mother-in-law, Ivan Phillips; and to her other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Becky
  Carroll.
