R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association
  are celebrating their 60th anniversary as an advocacy group for
  retired educators and the public education system; and
         WHEREAS, A resource and a voice for more than 300,000 retired
  school personnel, the TRTA has a membership of approximately 80,000
  retired teachers; one out of every 16 Texans over the age of 65 is a
  member of the organization; and
         WHEREAS, Members of each TRTA district across the state work
  in behalf of students, future educators, active educators, and
  their fellow retired teachers; moreover, the TRTA energetically
  promotes the financial soundness of the pension plan and retiree
  health care program through its support of a strong Teacher
  Retirement System; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to education
  and educators, the Texas Retired Teachers Association has made
  immeasurable contributions to the citizens of the Lone Star State
  over the past six decades, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor
  members of this noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the Texas Retired Teachers
  Association on the occasion of its 60th anniversary and extend
  sincere best wishes to its members.
