R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association |
|
are celebrating their 60th anniversary as an advocacy group for |
|
retired educators and the public education system; and |
|
WHEREAS, A resource and a voice for more than 300,000 retired |
|
school personnel, the TRTA has a membership of approximately 80,000 |
|
retired teachers; one out of every 16 Texans over the age of 65 is a |
|
member of the organization; and |
|
WHEREAS, Members of each TRTA district across the state work |
|
in behalf of students, future educators, active educators, and |
|
their fellow retired teachers; moreover, the TRTA energetically |
|
promotes the financial soundness of the pension plan and retiree |
|
health care program through its support of a strong Teacher |
|
Retirement System; and |
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to education |
|
and educators, the Texas Retired Teachers Association has made |
|
immeasurable contributions to the citizens of the Lone Star State |
|
over the past six decades, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor |
|
members of this noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize the Texas Retired Teachers |
|
Association on the occasion of its 60th anniversary and extend |
|
sincere best wishes to its members. |
