R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Ruby Cole Session of Fort Worth has distinguished |
|
herself through her notable achievements as an educator and |
|
advocate; and |
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary role model, Ms. Session is highly |
|
regarded for her dedication as a teacher and for her tireless |
|
devotion to the cause of criminal justice reform; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Session is the mother of the late Timothy Cole, |
|
the first inmate in Texas to be posthumously exonerated; she worked |
|
tirelessly to clear her son's name, refusing to give up hope, and |
|
having now achieved her goal, she remains a fierce champion of the |
|
wrongly accused; and |
|
WHEREAS, A teacher for more than 30 years, Ms. Session has |
|
also made a lasting, positive impact on the lives of innumerable |
|
young Texans; she received her professional training at Texas |
|
Christian University, where she was one of the first 25 African |
|
American female graduates; and |
|
WHEREAS, This admirable woman is revered by her friends and |
|
family as a devoted mother, an accomplished educator, and a |
|
resolute advocate of criminal justice reform, and it is indeed |
|
fitting that she be recognized at this time; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Ruby Cole Session for her outstanding |
|
humanitarian efforts and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Session as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
