R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Jimmie Nell McCracken of Georgetown is
  commemorating a Capitol occasion on March 19, 2013, when she
  celebrates a milestone birthday under the pink dome in the company
  of her son, State Representative Scott Sanford; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Lampasas to James and Dixie McGehee, the
  former Jimmie Nell McGehee grew up in Carrollton and graduated from
  Carrollton High School, where she was a majorette; her father was a
  World War II veteran who had been stationed on the destroyer USS
  Mertz in the Pacific theater, and he drew on his military experience
  to become a respected civic leader; over the years, he was elected
  to the city council and school board, and he also served his fellow
  citizens as president of the chamber of commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. McCracken continues her father's legacy of
  service as a devoted member of her church and her community, and
  among her many contributions, she has volunteered extensively for
  Meals on Wheels; she also takes an active interest in our democratic
  process and was not deterred even by 100-degree heat when it came
  time to campaign for her son; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a fine family, Mrs. McCracken draws
  continuing support from her husband, Jack McCracken, who is the
  grandson of a member of the 25th Texas Legislature and a decorated
  Marine veteran; her life is further enriched by her daughter,
  Catherine, and her four grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Justin, and
  Haley, and she spends many a contented hour with her cherished
  canine companion, Muffin; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed woman delights her loved ones in
  countless ways, with her culinary talents ranking near the top of
  the list, and while her flair for Texas dishes cannot be overstated,
  it is her cherry cobbler that often steals the show; her
  appreciation for the finer things also extends to traveling, most
  especially when her destination is a foreign country; and
         WHEREAS, Jimmie Nell McCracken is a source of joy and
  inspiration to all who are fortunate to know her, and it is a
  pleasure to join her friends and family in honoring her for crafting
  a life rich in the intangibles that matter most; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby wish Jimmie Nell McCracken a very happy birthday
  and extend to her a warm welcome to the State Capitol; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. McCracken as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
