R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The city of Kerrville lost an admired resident with
  the death of Henry Earl Kilgore, Jr., on February 14, 2013, at the
  age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, A Kerrville native, Earl Kilgore was the son of
  Henry and Naida Kilgore; he graduated from Tivy High School in 1949
  and spent two years in college before serving in the United States
  Navy during and after the Korean War; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Kilgore returned to the States and resumed his
  studies at The University of Texas at Austin, where he met Virginia
  "Ginger" Crawford on a blind date; six months later, on July 1,
  1955, the couple married, and over the course of nearly six decades
  together, their family grew to include 5 children, Stan, Karen,
  Sandra, Terri, and Lynette, as well as 11 grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating, Mr. Kilgore continued his
  education at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas; earning his
  medical degree in 1962, he served as an intern and as a research
  fellow before completing his surgery residency at Parkland Memorial
  Hospital in 1968; and
         WHEREAS, That year, Mr. Kilgore and his family moved back to
  Kerrville; he opened a private practice there and worked as a
  general surgeon until 1994, when he took on a job with the Veterans
  Administration; he continued to practice medicine for the rest of
  his life; and
         WHEREAS, A gifted storyteller, Mr. Kilgore loved spinning
  tales of the Texas Hill Country and the Guadalupe River for his
  children and grandchildren, and his infectious sense of humor was a
  joy to all who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, Earl Kilgore treasured the time he spent in the
  company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will
  in turn cherish their memories of this kind and caring man; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Henry Earl Kilgore,
  Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Ginger Kilgore; to his children, Stan Kilgore and his
  wife, Kathleen, Karen Freeman and her husband, Howard, Sandra
  Adkins and her husband, Brian, Terri Hay and her husband, Daryl, and
  Lynette Kilgore; to his grandchildren, William and Kristen Kilgore,
  Carter, Bennett, and Teak Freeman, Tia, Preston, and Trey Adkins,
  and Martin, Spencer, and Stuart Hay; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Henry Earl
  Kilgore, Jr.
