R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jennifer Wilhite of Chapin High School in El Paso |
|
received well-deserved recognition when she was named the 2013 |
|
Region 19 Education Service Center Secondary Teacher of the Year; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Chosen for her expertise, community involvement, |
|
and philosophy of teaching, among other factors, Ms. Wilhite was |
|
selected from a field of 21 contenders representing elementary and |
|
secondary schools in the area; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Wilhite grew up in Idaho and was inspired to |
|
teach by her mother's love of literature, her father's passion for |
|
teaching high school math, and her experiences tutoring her |
|
siblings; as a world literature and gifted and talented independent |
|
studies instructor at Chapin High School, she develops lessons that |
|
|
|
blend humor and current events with high expectations to create a |
|
learning environment that is both challenging and engaging; and |
|
WHEREAS, With her creativity and energy, Jennifer Wilhite has |
|
inspired in her students a zeal for learning that will serve them |
|
well throughout their lives, and she is a source of pride to her |
|
school and her community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jennifer Wilhite on her selection |
|
as the Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Region 19 Education |
|
Service Center and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success with her important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Wilhite as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
