R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Albertina Corral of El Paso retired as a waitress at |
|
the Greenery Restaurant and Market on February 16, 2013, concluding |
|
a remarkable career that spanned 63 years in establishments owned |
|
by the Heins family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Chihuahua City in Mexico in 1927, "Martha" |
|
Corral immigrated to the United States at the age of 22; she was not |
|
yet fluent in English when she was hired at the Heins restaurant in |
|
central El Paso, but her exceptional work ethic immediately |
|
impressed her boss; after 32 years at Heins, she began working at |
|
the Greenery in 1982; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Corral endeared herself to innumerable |
|
restaurant patrons over the years with her charm, panache, and |
|
commitment to customer service; she treated patrons like guests in |
|
her own home, and she helped three generations of the Heins family |
|
keep operations running smoothly; always helpful and enthusiastic, |
|
she assisted in training new hires and taught them to strive for |
|
high standards of hospitality; and |
|
WHEREAS, Widely admired by all who had the privilege of |
|
working with her, Martha Corral set an outstanding example of |
|
excellence during more than six decades in the service industry, |
|
and it is indeed fitting to honor this esteemed octogenarian for her |
|
accomplishments as she embarks on the next chapter of her life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Martha Corral on her retirement |
|
from 63 years of waitressing in establishments owned by the Heins |
|
family and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Corral as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
