R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Students of the Harmony Science Academy--San |
|
|
Antonio have generously contributed their time, energy, and |
|
|
resources to help improve the lives of others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During the past seven years, students of the academy |
|
|
have helped to make the Alamo City an even better place to live by |
|
|
participating in cleanup initiatives, feeding the hungry, building |
|
|
housing, providing recreational activities for area youth, and |
|
|
helping senior citizens; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to these worthwhile efforts, the school |
|
|
has held toy drives, assisted children of military families through |
|
|
the HOPE Foundation's Worldwide Holiday Program, and supported |
|
|
victims of tragic events and devastating natural disasters; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the National Honor Society have worked to |
|
|
benefit charitable organizations across the city, including the San |
|
|
Antonio Food Bank, the Mission Continues, the Humane Society, the |
|
|
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the USO, the Wounded Warriors |
|
|
Foundation, and the American Red Cross; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Distinguished by their leadership and volunteerism, |
|
|
the notable young people of Harmony Science Academy--San Antonio |
|
|
have contributed to the well-being of our state while learning |
|
|
important lessons for the future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize May 12-18, 2013, as Harmony Science |
|
|
Academy--San Antonio Community Service Week and commend all those |
|
|
associated with the school for their dedicated efforts in behalf of |
|
|
their fellow residents; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the institution as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
