R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, March 2, 2013, was indeed a special day for Courtney
  Zubowski and Dr. Eric Haas of Houston, for on that day they were
  united in marriage at the Corinthian by Rabbi Brian Strauss; and
         WHEREAS, A Houston native, Ms. Zubowski attended high school
  in Bellaire, where she got her start in broadcast journalism,
  delivering news to the students as part of the school's television
  production program; she went on to graduate from the University of
  Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and
  Journalism, and during her studies she was named the most
  distinguished student in her graduating class and honored two years
  in a row by the Hearst Journalism Awards Program; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Zubowski began her career as a news anchor at a
  television station in Beaumont, winning several awards for her
  coverage and sharing in an Edward R. Murrow Award bestowed on the
  station; she then worked as a television news reporter in Phoenix
  and also contributed to reports for Headline News and CNN; she
  returned to Houston in 2008 to join KHOU Channel 11 as a reporter;
  and
         WHEREAS, A double board-certified colorectal surgeon,
  Dr. Haas has been named among the top one percent of doctors in the
  country by U.S. News and World Report; he is a member of Colorectal
  Surgical Associates in Houston and also serves as chief of the
  division of colon and rectal surgery and director of clinical
  research and quality outcomes at University General Hospital;
  moreover, he is a faculty surgeon at St. Luke's, The Methodist, and
  Memorial Hermann Hospitals; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Haas earned his medical degree from The
  University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he was
  inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society; he
  completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital and took part in
  fellowship training through The University of Texas Medical School
  Fellowship Program; he serves as the director of a surgery
  fellowship program at UT Medical School in Houston and is a member
  of the teaching faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine; he and
  his research fellows have published widely and have presented at
  surgical meetings throughout the world; and
         WHEREAS, The wedding of Ms. Zubowski and Dr. Haas marks a
  profound deepening of a relationship that has grown in trust,
  devotion, and mutual respect, and it is a pleasure to honor them as
  they begin a new chapter of their lives together; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Courtney Zubowski and Dr. Eric
  Haas on their wedding and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Zubowski and Dr. Hass as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
