R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Eastland lost a greatly admired
  Texan with the tragic death of firefighter Gregory Mack Simmons,
  who died in the line of duty while fighting a wildfire on April 15,
  2011, at the age of 50; and
         WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Greg Simmons was born to Harvey
  Mack Simmons and Thelma Inez Simmons on December 26, 1960; drawn to
  public service, Mr. Simmons volunteered with the Sachse Fire
  Department for 10 years before moving to Eastland, where he served
  an additional 11 years with the Eastland Volunteer Fire Department;
  and
         WHEREAS, He married the former Carrie Songer on August 16,
  1986, and during more than a quarter-century together, they shared
  many happy times and became the parents of two beloved daughters,
  Kateland and Karley; Mr. Simmons was a dedicated family man, and he
  enthusiastically supported his children in all their endeavors,
  from academics to athletics and band; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Simmons co-owned the business Allegro Mobility
  with his wife and her parents; well respected as a businessman, he
  was committed to providing the best possible service to his
  customers, who were often elderly or disabled; moreover, he was an
  active member of the community and a valued participant in numerous
  social and civic events in Eastland; and
         WHEREAS, Greg Simmons lived a dynamic and purposeful life,
  and memories of this fine man will be forever treasured by all those
  who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gregory Mack Simmons
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Greg
  Simmons.
