R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the International Code Council, along |
|
with local, state, and federal officials, help create and implement |
|
the highest quality codes to protect the buildings in which we live, |
|
learn, work, worship, and play, and building safety and fire |
|
prevention officials, architects, engineers, builders, laborers, |
|
and others in the construction industry are vigilant in their |
|
efforts to ensure that our structures are safe; and |
|
WHEREAS, The council's International Codes are the most |
|
widely adopted building safety, energy, and fire prevention codes |
|
in the nation; used by most cities, counties, and states, these |
|
modern building codes include safeguards to protect the public from |
|
natural disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, |
|
wildfires, and earthquakes; and |
|
WHEREAS, During Building Safety Month, the International |
|
Code Council is bringing public attention to the critical role that |
|
local code officials play in preventing injuries and deaths from |
|
fires and accidents; and |
|
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's Building Safety Month is |
|
"Code Officials Keep You Safe"; the campaign encourages all |
|
Americans to learn more about the importance of green and resilient |
|
building, pool, spa, and hot tub safety, backyard safety, and new |
|
technologies in the construction industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, The safety and stability of our buildings is |
|
critically important, and Building Safety Month brings much-needed |
|
attention to the professionals who provide the essential services |
|
of implementing the International Codes and protecting our lives |
|
and property; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize May 2013 as Building Safety Month. |
