R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, The University Breast Care Center of the Texas Tech |
|
|
University Health Sciences Center at El Paso has received |
|
|
accreditation through the National Accreditation Program for |
|
|
Breast Centers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The national accreditation program is a consortium |
|
|
of professionals dedicated to improving breast cancer remedies and |
|
|
outcomes; to be recognized, providers must furnish specific |
|
|
elements of care and comply with rigid standards on leadership, |
|
|
quality improvement, professional instruction, and scientific |
|
|
analysis; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1994 to provide comprehensive breast |
|
|
disease therapy to medically indigent women in El Paso, the UBCC |
|
|
also serves as a teaching environment for medical students, |
|
|
coordinates community outreach and education, and conducts |
|
|
research; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nearly one-third of all new breast cancer diagnoses |
|
|
in El Paso take place at the center, which is the only nationally |
|
|
accredited breast care program in El Paso; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Staff of the University Breast Care Center are |
|
|
fighting this devastating disease with vision, passion, and |
|
|
tenacity, and their work is making a positive difference in the |
|
|
lives of countless people; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the University Breast Care Center |
|
|
of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso for |
|
|
achieving accreditation from the National Accreditation Program |
|
|
for Breast Centers and extend to its administrators and medical |
|
|
staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
