  H.R. No. 1079

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Michael Ball, Lance Beatty, Lex Hayes, and David
Sauer of the Waco Fire Department demonstrated remarkable bravery
on the night of February 16, 2012, while trying to save a family
from a burning trailer home in Bosqueville; and
WHEREAS, By the time the firefighters arrived on the scene,
the home was already engulfed in flames, and the air was dense with
smoke and toxic fumes; a woman and her three children were trapped
  inside; and
WHEREAS, The firefighters immediately broke out the
trailer's windows and attempted to reach the people inside, and
they managed to pull one of the children, a two-year-old boy, to
  safety; and
WHEREAS, All four firefighters incurred injuries in the
rescue, yet as a result of their willingness to put themselves
directly in harm's way, a young Texan's life was spared; and
WHEREAS, For their actions that night, the men have each been
presented with the Liberty Mutual National Firemark Award for
Heroism, which is a fitting tribute to their commitment,
determination, and courage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby commend Michael Ball, Lance Beatty, Lex Hayes,
and David Sauer of the Waco Fire Department for rescuing a little
boy from a fire, and extend to them sincere appreciation for their
dedication to public safety; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the firefighters as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
