R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Drew Keeney and Miles Milliorn of Lorena High School |
|
won the doubles event at the Rocket Invitational Tennis Tournament |
|
on February 15, 2013, in Waco; and |
|
WHEREAS, Facing competitors from Class 2A through Class 5A |
|
schools, these outstanding young athletes took four consecutive |
|
matches under the eight-game pro set format to win the competition; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In their first two contests, Mr. Keeney, a senior, |
|
and Mr. Milliorn, a junior, defeated Midway 8-5 and San Saba 8-2; |
|
after moving on to the semifinals, they fell behind by a score of |
|
2-6 to Rockdale and were threatened with elimination, but the pair |
|
rallied to take seven of the next eight games for a 9-7 triumph; in |
|
the finals, they carried off the trophy by beating the Waco High |
|
School team 8-5; and |
|
WHEREAS, The hard work and commitment to excellence |
|
demonstrated by Mr. Keeney and Mr. Milliorn have helped them to |
|
become a formidable force on the tennis court, and they may take |
|
justifiable pride in their accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Drew Keeney and Miles Milliorn of |
|
Lorena High School on winning the doubles competition at the Rocket |
|
Invitational Tennis Tournament and extend to them sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
for Mr. Keeney and Mr. Milliorn as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
