R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 106th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and Jewel Clay observed this impressive
  milestone in her life on December 3, 2012; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Winnsboro area, Jewel
  Clay grew up on a farm, and learned the value of hard work while
  gardening and cooking; she married Roger Clay, and she lovingly
  raised six children, Jo, William, Pam, R. C., Margaret, and Harold
  Wayne; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Clay remains an inspiring and nurturing
  matriarch to a family that today includes 11 grandchildren and
  numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of
  whom benefit from her exceptional culinary skills; and
         WHEREAS, This notable Texan continues to be active and
  independent; she is a longtime member of Pine Baptist Church, and in
  her free time she enjoys quilting, attending Winnsboro ISD sporting
  events and the local rodeo, and playing dominoes; and
         WHEREAS, Jewel Clay has earned a special place in the hearts
  of all those who are fortunate enough to know her, and it is indeed a
  pleasure to join in recognizing her for 106 years of life well
  lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jewel Clay on her 106th birthday
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Clay as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
