R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 106th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |
|
|
cause for celebration, and Jewel Clay observed this impressive |
|
|
milestone in her life on December 3, 2012; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Winnsboro area, Jewel |
|
|
Clay grew up on a farm, and learned the value of hard work while |
|
|
gardening and cooking; she married Roger Clay, and she lovingly |
|
|
raised six children, Jo, William, Pam, R. C., Margaret, and Harold |
|
|
Wayne; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Clay remains an inspiring and nurturing |
|
|
matriarch to a family that today includes 11 grandchildren and |
|
|
numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of |
|
|
whom benefit from her exceptional culinary skills; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable Texan continues to be active and |
|
|
independent; she is a longtime member of Pine Baptist Church, and in |
|
|
her free time she enjoys quilting, attending Winnsboro ISD sporting |
|
|
events and the local rodeo, and playing dominoes; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jewel Clay has earned a special place in the hearts |
|
|
of all those who are fortunate enough to know her, and it is indeed a |
|
|
pleasure to join in recognizing her for 106 years of life well |
|
|
lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jewel Clay on her 106th birthday |
|
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Clay as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
