R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, J. C. and Charm Norris of Mineola
  celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 29, 2012; and
         WHEREAS, J. C. Norris and the former Charm Moseley met while
  attending the College of Marshall, and they were united in
  matrimony at a ceremony held in the home of their college dean in
  1942; a few months later, in February 1943, Dr. Norris answered his
  country's call to duty and joined the United States Air Force; and
         WHEREAS, He went on to pursue a career in optometry, and the
  couple moved back to Mrs. Norris's hometown of Mineola when the
  opportunity arose to buy a local practice; Dr. Norris worked as an
  optometrist at Mineola Eyecare for nearly five decades, and
  Mrs. Norris assisted in the business as a bookkeeper; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, their family has grown to include
  two daughters, Suzanne Phelps and Patricia McClenny, as well as
  four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Dr. and
  Mrs. Norris have long been valued congregants of First Baptist
  Church; for the 22 years since his retirement, Dr. Norris has also
  been affiliated with the Meredith Foundation, now serving as its
  chair; Mrs. Norris was active with many school organizations and is
  currently a member of the Twentieth Century Club; the pair enjoy
  traveling and taking cruises together; and
         WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
  world during the past seven decades, this devoted husband and wife
  have remained constant in their commitment to each other, and the
  strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
  and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate J. C. and Charm Norris on their
  70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. and Mrs. Norris as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
