R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Garland has received a 2013 LIVE UNITED |
|
|
Award from the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas |
|
|
pays tribute to those outstanding corporate contributors who have |
|
|
participated in its annual campaign; one of the honors presented, |
|
|
the LIVE UNITED Award, recognizes businesses and organizations for |
|
|
their fund-raising activities and donations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Garland city employees raised more than $68,000 for |
|
|
the United Way during 2012 through a variety of collaborative |
|
|
activities, including bake sales, raffles, and payroll deduction |
|
|
pledges; moreover, staff members encourage an atmosphere of giving |
|
|
that makes the campaign more successful; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their hard work and generosity, City of |
|
|
Garland workers have supported a cause that helps families leave |
|
|
poverty and become self-sufficient, gives students tools they need |
|
|
to succeed, and allows individuals to live healthier, more |
|
|
productive lives, and they may reflect with justifiable pride on |
|
|
the good they have helped to bring about; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Garland on its receipt |
|
|
of a 2013 LIVE UNITED Award from the United Way of Metropolitan |
|
|
Dallas and extend to all those involved with this worthy endeavor |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the City of Garland as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
