R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Clark Good and Chad Gilliland, high school math |
|
|
teachers in the Richardson Independent School District, have been |
|
|
named 2013 winners of the Innovations in STEM Teaching Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This award recognizes teachers who distinguish |
|
|
themselves in the instruction of science, technology, engineering, |
|
|
and math; the awards program is sponsored by the Richardson |
|
|
Independent School District Excellence in Education Foundation, |
|
|
which funds scholarships and academic enhancements throughout the |
|
|
district, and the Texas Instruments Foundation, which promotes STEM |
|
|
education in a number of ways; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Good teaches at Berkner High School, and |
|
|
Mr. Gilliland is a teacher at Richardson High School; they each |
|
|
received a check for $10,000 for their work and will be formally |
|
|
honored at a special banquet in the fall; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Teachers in the STEM fields of study play an |
|
|
essential part in preparing young Texans for the challenges and |
|
|
opportunities of the future, and this prestigious award recognizes |
|
|
the impressive contributions that Mr. Good and Mr. Gilliland have |
|
|
made in that important effort; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Clark Good and Chad Gilliland on |
|
|
winning Innovations in STEM Teaching Awards and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for Mr. Good and Mr. Gilliland as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
