R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, For over 30 years, the Lake Highlands Republican |
|
|
Women have made significant contributions to the Lake Highlands |
|
|
area, the Dallas County GOP, and the State of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since the club's founding in 1980, members have |
|
|
committed thousands of hours to local and statewide campaigns in |
|
|
behalf of Republican Party candidates in addition to working as |
|
|
election clerks, judges, and poll watchers to ensure a fair and |
|
|
efficient voting process; in 2012, more than 20 percent of members |
|
|
were elected as delegates or alternates to the Republican state |
|
|
convention after having volunteered by helping to organize and by |
|
|
serving as delegates at state senatorial district conventions; the |
|
|
club's mission also includes hosting educational programs designed |
|
|
to keep members and other participants informed on critical issues; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Along with their involvement in political affairs, |
|
|
members of the Lake Highlands Republican Women regularly devote |
|
|
their time and energy to benefit the community through |
|
|
beautification projects and initiatives supporting local |
|
|
charities, schools, women's shelters, veterans' programs, and the |
|
|
USO; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This noteworthy group has garnered myriad honors and |
|
|
accolades, winning the 2010 Club of the Year award from the Dallas |
|
|
County Republican Party, which has also recognized four members for |
|
|
their outstanding volunteerism in the past five years; the club has |
|
|
received both the John Goodwin Tower Award of Excellence from the |
|
|
Texas Federation of Republican Women and the Diamond Award from the |
|
|
National Federation of Republican Women numerous times since its |
|
|
formation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to their principles and imbued with the |
|
|
spirit of civic service, the Lake Highlands Republican Women may |
|
|
reflect with justifiable pride on their many achievements as they |
|
|
continue to work toward a bright future for their community, state, |
|
|
and nation; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the Lake Highlands Republican Women for |
|
|
their commitment to making a difference in the lives of their fellow |
|
|
Texans and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Lake Highlands Republican Women as an expression |
|
|
of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
