R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Tea Party Republican Women are
  celebrating the organization's 20th anniversary in 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1993 by Peggy Cox, Susan Darbyshire,
  and Elvie Kingston, the TTPRW is an active, conservative women's
  organization working to preserve and promote the traditional
  principles of the Republican Party; the three founders named the
  association as a tribute to the women patriots of the American
  Revolution who boycotted English tea and worked alongside their
  husbands to help form a new nation; and
         WHEREAS, Participants in the Texas Tea Party Republican Women
  give generously of their time, talents, and financial resources to
  promote an informed electorate and to foster civic engagement and
  political participation; in addition, the TTPRW supports campaigns
  at the state and local levels, and many members have been involved
  in national campaigns and issues as well; today, the association's
  members are ably guided in their impressive efforts by president
  Kay Smith; and
         WHEREAS, Within a year of its affiliation with the Texas
  Federation of Republican Women in 1996, the TTPRW received the TFRW
  First Place Certificate of Recognition for nearly 18,000 campaign
  hours worked, and the group has received numerous other honors from
  the federation, including the Elephant Stampede Award for growth in
  2006; and
         WHEREAS, Through their grassroots activism, members of the
  Texas Tea Party Republican Women have made a lasting difference in
  their community, state, and nation, and they may take justifiable
  pride in their rich history of civic engagement; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas Tea Party Republican
  Women on the occasion of its 20th anniversary and extend to the
  group sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
