R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The citizens of League City are mourning the loss of
  volunteer firefighter cadet Donald Mark Mize, who passed away on
  March 6, 2013, at the age of 63; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Harvey Donald and Ona Elizabeth Mize,
  Donald Mize was born on December 2, 1949; raised in the Denver
  Harbor area of Houston, he graduated from Austin High School and
  went on to earn a master's degree in education; he made his career
  as an educator, teaching first in Galveston and later in the Clear
  Creek Independent School District before retiring from teaching
  high school students in 2012; and
         WHEREAS, This accomplished Texan was active in his community
  in a number of ways; he held membership in the Galveston Historical
  Foundation, helping to secure official designations for historic
  sites, and in retirement he joined the Texas State Guard, completed
  the Citizens Police Academy in League City, and applied to become a
  cadet with the League City Volunteer Fire Department, fulfilling a
  lifelong dream; a man of faith as well, he attended St. Mary's
  Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mize was devoted to his family, including his
  wife, Theresa, and his daughter, Stacey; he also welcomed into his
  family two stepsons, Keith and James, and two grandsons, Jordan and
  Connor; and
         WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, Donald Mize
  leaves behind a wealth of memories that will long be treasured by
  all those fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Donald Mize and extend
  sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Theresa
  Mize; to his daughter, Stacey Mize; to his grandsons, Jordan and
  Connor; to his stepsons, Keith and James Kahanek; to his mother, Ona
  Elizabeth Mize; to his brother, James Mize; to his sister, Rebecca
  Mize; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Donald
  Mize.
