in matrimony in Fort Sumner, New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, The newlyweds began their married life during the
Great Depression, when Mr. Snead made 15 cents an hour working 10
hours a day, 6 days a week, while working his own 40-acre farm at the
same time; Mrs. Snead coped with a home that lacked electricity and
  indoor plumbing; and

sandwiches, her frozen peaches, and her famous "hissing in the pit"
story; Mr. Snead takes pleasure in spending time with his
great-great-grandchildren, listening to their stories as he drives
them in his scooter, and even though he proclaims that he is "blind
in one eye and can't see out the other," he still regards his bride
with the same joy and admiration as he did on the day of their
wedding, three quarters of a century ago; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past 75
years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in
their commitment to each other, and the strength of their love has
enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace
and optimism; now, therefore, be it
