R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' basketball team of Martin's Mill High
  School brought the 2012-2013 season to a triumphant conclusion on
  March 2, when it claimed the University Interscholastic League 1A
  Division 1 state championship with a victory in the title game at
  the Frank Erwin Center in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Facing a tough foe in Smyer High School, the Lady
  Mustangs found themselves down by 10 points with four minutes left
  on the clock; refusing to give up, the Martin's Mill players forced
  their opponent into missed shots and turnovers with their tenacious
  full-court press and steadily cut into the deficit with clutch
  baskets, eventually tying the score in the final minute; Haily
  Jenkins then sank a jump shot with just 13 seconds on the clock, and
  the Lady Mustangs held on for a thrilling 49-46 victory; and
         WHEREAS, The championship win marked yet another highlight in
  the team's impressive record of success; Martin's Mill has appeared
  in the state tournament for eight consecutive years and has played
  in the title game six times; moreover, the school now has three
  basketball crowns to its credit, with the previous triumphs coming
  in 2006 and 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Jenkins was named the championship game Most
  Valuable Player, and she was joined on the All-Tournament Team by
  Taylor Munns; vital contributions were also made throughout the
  season by the other members of the roster: Alyssa Pate, Brianne
  Miller, Hannah Celsur, Cassidy McCoy, Bailey Caldwell, Cheyenne
  Brown, Madison Daniel, Meagan Weatherford, and Hailey Hawes; and
         WHEREAS, These dedicated athletes were guided by head coach
  Doug Barncastle and assistant coaches Laura Jenkins and Don
  Tarrant; additional support was provided by managers Hailey Celsur,
  Jacee Greenlee, Jillian Jones, Megan Lafleur, and Adrianna
  Weatherford; and
         WHEREAS, Through unrelenting determination and exceptional
  play on the hardwood, the Lady Mustangs have furthered their
  school's tradition of excellence, and the players, their
  classmates, and their many supporters in the community will
  treasure the memory of this outstanding accomplishment for many
  years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Martin's Mill High School
  girls' basketball team on winning the UIL 1A Division 1 state
  championship and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
