R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' basketball team of White Oak High School
  reached the pinnacle of success for the second consecutive season
  when it claimed the University Interscholastic League 2A state
  championship on March 9, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The title game was a rematch of the 2012 tournament
  final against Brock High School, marking the first time that the
  same teams had played for the 2A championship in consecutive years;
  White Oak controlled the contest until the fourth quarter, when
  Brock rallied to tie the score with less than a minute to go; the
  seesaw battle ended with championship game Most Valuable Player
  Kris Anderson driving past his defender to hit the decisive layup
  with four seconds left to lift his team to a 56-54 victory; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was joined on the All-Tournament Team
  by Levi Yancy and Hayden Nichols; the Roughnecks also received
  valuable contributions throughout the year from the other members
  of the roster: Preston Templeman, Slade Sutton, Skylar Sutton,
  Dylan Gale, Josh Benson, Scott LaVern, Landry Sheridan, Cass Carr,
  Jake Pullen, Dax Davis, Tanner Sharp, Slaton Teague, Nike Simmons,
  Gabe Michael, and Andrew Thornton; and
         WHEREAS, The 2013 championship triumph serves as yet another
  highlight in an unforgettable two-year stretch that has seen White
  Oak compile a record of 74 wins and only 2 losses under the skillful
  leadership of head coach Ron Boyett; the Roughneck players also
  received valuable guidance from assistant coaches Brett Cloud and
  Billy Terry during their most recent title-winning campaign; and
         WHEREAS, Through hard work and an enduring commitment to
  excellence, the White Oak High School basketball team has claimed
  the ultimate prize in back-to-back years, and these gifted athletes
  and their many fans in the local community may take justifiable
  pride in this achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the White Oak High School boys'
  basketball team on winning the 2013 UIL 2A state championship and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
