R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, McLennan Community College president Johnette
  McKown has been elected to the board of trustees, Texas delegation,
  of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on
  Colleges; and
         WHEREAS, The SACS Commission on Colleges is the accrediting
  body for higher education institutions in the southern United
  States; the 77 members of the organization's board determine the
  commission's policies and standards, and they are responsible for
  overseeing the accreditation of more than 800 educational
  institutions in 11 states; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. McKown has worked for McLennan Community
  College since 1989 and has served as the school's president since
  2009; in addition, she led MCC through a highly successful SACS
  reaffirmation process; and
         WHEREAS, Through her tireless efforts to promote high
  standards of student achievement, Johnette McKown has set an
  inspiring example of dedication to education in Texas, and she
  brings a reputation for excellence and an impressive record of
  achievement to her new duties with SACS; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Johnette McKown on being elected to
  the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on
  Colleges Board of Trustees, Texas delegation, and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. McKown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
