R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Patsy McMillan is retiring from the Sachse City
  Council in May 2013 after nearly a decade of distinguished service;
  and
         WHEREAS, Since winning election to Place 5 on the city
  council in 2004, Pat McMillan has presided over a period of
  considerable growth and development in the Sachse area; along the
  way, her expertise has benefited a range of boards and committees,
  among them the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Residential
  District Zoning Committee, and the Animal Shelter Advisory
  Committee, of which she is presently both the chair and council
  liaison; she has additionally held a seat on the Sachse Economic
  Development Corporation Board of Directors, where she advocated in
  behalf of the local business community; and
         WHEREAS, Before beginning her tenure, Ms. McMillan enjoyed a
  26-year career with the Dallas Sheriff's Department and was the
  first woman in the department's history to hold the rank of
  assistant chief deputy; now a forensic identification consultant,
  she has frequently taught and lectured on matters involving
  evidence analysis at law enforcement academies, federal agencies,
  schools, and organizations; and
         WHEREAS, This notable Texan has lived in Sachse with her
  husband, James Cron, for two decades; during that time, she has
  shared her time and talents with numerous local civic groups,
  including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of
  the Eastern Star; she is also a member of the Sachse Historical
  Society and the Fleur de Lis Garden Club, which she has served as
  president; and
         WHEREAS, The strength of our communities depends on the
  efforts of individuals like Pat McMillan, whose tireless work in
  behalf of area citizens has contributed immeasurably to the quality
  of life in Sachse; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Patsy McMillan on her retirement
  from the Sachse City Council and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. McMillan as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
