R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating exceptional dedication and teamwork,
  the girls' basketball team of Lincoln High School in Dallas made a
  thrilling run through the University Interscholastic League 4A
  playoffs to reach the 2013 title game; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Tigers posted an impressive 30-4 record in
  the regular season and went on to tally playoff wins over Dallas
  Seagoville, West Mesquite, The Colony, Mansfield Summit, and Frisco
  Liberty to earn a trip to the state tournament; there, the team
  bested Aledo High School 64-44 in the semifinals before falling to
  Georgetown in a hard-fought championship showdown to finish as 4A
  runner-up; and
         WHEREAS, Alisha Washington led the squad in scoring by
  averaging 18.7 points per game throughout the season, and Jade
  Colbert and Kelsey Criner also averaged in double figures; the
  well-balanced Lady Tigers team further benefited from the hard work
  of the other members of the roster: Dariel Johnson, Nicoria Denman,
  Regina Anderson, Shatavies Reed, Jamia Mack, Jasmine Cooper, and
  Jalah Walton; and
         WHEREAS, Excelling both on and off the court, these
  outstanding young women are focused on their studies and are active
  members of their community; Ms. Colbert is slated to be the class
  valedictorian, while Ms. Criner, Ms. Mack, and Ms. Denman are
  ranked 3rd, 4th, and 11th academically among Lincoln seniors; each
  month, the entire team volunteers at St. Luke "Community" United
  Methodist Church to help feed the homeless; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Tigers were skillfully guided by head coach
  Carlesa Dixon, who was a member of the school's first girls'
  championship basketball squad in 1999 and went on to play at the
  collegiate level and for a professional league in Sweden; the team
  also received valuable contributions from assistant coaches and
  Lincoln alums Artavia Burns and Cynthia Mcleod, as well as from
  manager Darnesha Johnson and statistician Larry McDonald; and
         WHEREAS, Through their inspired performances on the
  hardwood, the Lincoln Lady Tigers have won the admiration of their
  many supporters in the community, and the skill and commitment that
  defined their approach to the game will serve them well in all of
  their future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Lincoln High School girls'
  basketball team on its success during the 2012-2013 season and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
