R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Steven Hail of Angleton has been named a recipient
  of the Award of Merit by the Thunderbird District, Bay Area Council
  of the Boy Scouts of America; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious commendation pays tribute to
  individuals who have made a positive difference in the lives of
  Texas youth; it is the highest honor a volunteer with the scouts can
  receive at the district level; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hail has served as a den leader and as a
  cubmaster of three Cub Scout packs, and he has also held the posts
  of assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster; today, he sits on the
  committee that oversees a local troop and serves as district
  training chair and as unit commissioner for four packs and two
  troops; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to the development and education of boys
  and young men, Mr. Hail has additionally served as a session leader
  and as a merit badge counselor at a summer camp, helping scouts to
  earn badges in transportation, wilderness survival, and
  environmental science; he has been a part of the district's
  training team for adults wishing to provide outdoor experiences to
  Cub Scout packs, and he has contributed to youth protection
  training as well; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hail is himself an Eagle Scout, having attained
  that rank in 1976; he and his wife, Teresa, are the parents of four
  daughters and five sons, three of whom are Eagle Scouts and two of
  whom are currently members of Boy Scout Troop No. 13; when his older
  sons were scouts, Mr. Hail purchased a 15-passenger van to enable
  more members of their troop to take part in camping trips; recently,
  he had the pleasure of seeing a grandson join a Tiger Cub pack; and
         WHEREAS, Steven Hail has brought inspiring leadership and
  deep enthusiasm to his work with the Boy Scouts of America, and it
  is a privilege to acknowledge his exceptional contributions to that
  organization and to the youth of his community; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Steven Hail on his receipt of a
  2012 Award of Merit from the Thunderbird District, Bay Area Council
  of the Boy Scouts of America, and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hail as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
