R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than three and a half decades, Sandra Shaw
  of the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce has been a champion for
  her community and an inspiration to her fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Shaw joined the Brazosport chamber in 1977 as
  its bookkeeper, then advanced to membership director, membership
  and finance director, and executive director; since 1991, she has
  served as the chamber's president and chief executive officer, and
  under her dynamic leadership, the chamber has won 34 State Awards of
  Excellence for its brochures, directories, maps, newsletters,
  website, and Facebook page; a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of
  Commerce Institute for Organization Management, she holds
  certification from the American Society of Economic and Community
  Developers; and
         WHEREAS, Held in high esteem for her skilled and effective
  leadership, Ms. Shaw has served as president of the Gulf Coast
  Chamber Executives and as a member of the executive board of the
  Texas Chamber of Commerce; she continues to serve as a board member
  for the Texas Association of Business and as a member of the
  Brazoria County Council of Chambers, the Brazoria County Day
  Steering Committee, the Freeport Main Street Advisory Board, the
  Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County, the Lake Jackson
  Business Association, the Brazosport Business Roundtable, and the
  Small Business Development Center of Brazosport College; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Shaw has also contributed extensively to her
  community through her involvement in the Memorial Child Care
  Center, the Strategic Planning Task Force for the Brazosport
  Regional Health System, the Women's Health Care Conference Advisory
  Committee, the Facts Unsung Heroes Selection Committee, the Dow
  Grant Selection Committee, the Freeport 100 Celebration Committee,
  and the Shoreline Erosion Task Force; in 2008, she received the Jane
  Long Pioneer Spirit Award from the Brazoria County Historical
  Museum for the "tenacity, courage, and conviction" with which she
  has pursued her vision for the Brazosport area; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Shaw is supported in all her endeavors by her
  husband of 30 years, Wayne Shaw, and she takes great pride in their
  four sons and seven grandchildren; her generous spirit is reflected
  not only in the many decades that she has devoted to the welfare of
  her community, but in the significant support that she and her
  husband, both ardent champions of animal welfare, render to the
  Houston Sheltie Sanctuary rescue program; and
         WHEREAS, Through her dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to others, Sandra Shaw has greatly benefited the
  citizens of Brazosport and Brazoria County, and she may indeed
  reflect with pride on the immeasurable good that she has
  accomplished; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce
  president and CEO Sandra Shaw on her achievements and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Shaw as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
