R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
  generosity of Senior Corporal Olin Randall Heifner of Garland, who
  passed away on March 3, 2013, at the age of 66; and
         WHEREAS, Born on December 24, 1946, in Dallas, Olin Heifner
  was the son of Sergeant Olin Arthur Heifner and Daisy Lucille
  Sigler; he enrolled in the ROTC program while attending Thomas
  Jefferson High School, and he later earned a bachelor's degree in
  business administration from The University of Texas at Arlington;
  and
         WHEREAS, After college, Mr. Heifner joined the United States
  Navy as a junior grade lieutenant, and when his service ended, he
  was honorably discharged as a full lieutenant and was awarded the
  National Defense Service Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Heifner joined the Dallas Police Department in
  1974; over the course of his career, he rose through the ranks to
  become a detective and garnered numerous accolades, including
  awards for lifesaving, safety, and marksmanship; after more than 28
  years with the force, he retired with the rank of senior corporal;
  and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Heifner enjoyed the
  support of his wife, Mary Elizabeth, with whom he shared nearly
  three decades; over the years, their family grew to include a
  daughter, Saranne, and her husband, Rick; and
         WHEREAS, Olin Heifner was deeply devoted to his family, his
  country, and his community, and he will forever be remembered with
  admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Senior Corporal
  Olin Randall Heifner and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
  his family: to his wife, Mary Elizabeth Heifner; to his daughter,
  Saranne Corley Ricco, and her husband, Rick; to his sister, Barbara
  Jan Heifner, and her husband, Bill Harris; to his nephews, Bob and
  Ted Eikenberry; to his cherished friends, Dennis and Sue Williams;
  and to his other friends and relatives; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Olin
  Randall Heifner.
