R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An outstanding educator received well-deserved
  recognition when Ibet Caro of King High School was named the 2013
  Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Corpus Christi Independent
  School District; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Caro earned a bachelor's degree in biology from
  Baylor University and went on to graduate with a master's degree in
  curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M University--Corpus
  Christi; and
         WHEREAS, Though she originally planned to become a doctor,
  Ms. Caro changed her mind when she discovered that her true calling
  was in education; she has been a faculty member for 12 years and
  currently teaches chemistry and anatomy; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Caro was nominated for the honor by her school
  and then wrote multiple essays about her approach to education as
  she advanced through the competition; ultimately, she became one of
  the six award finalists who were interviewed by the selection
  committee, and in addition to earning the title of Secondary
  Teacher of the Year, she received a cash prize; and
         WHEREAS, With her ability to instruct and inspire, Ibet Caro
  has made a positive difference in the lives of many King High School
  students while earning the respect of her peers, and she is indeed
  deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ibet Caro on her selection as the
  2013 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Corpus Christi
  Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued success in her important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Caro as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
