R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Clarendon College has been named one of the nation's
  most successful community colleges by CNN Money; and
         WHEREAS, Through a collaboration with College Measures, a
  joint venture of the American Institutes for Research and Matrix
  Knowledge Group, CNN Money measured the success of a community
  college by the percentage of students who either graduate within
  three years or transfer to a four-year college; and
         WHEREAS, Clarendon College, with a 64 percent success rate,
  was ranked number 28 among all community colleges in the nation and
  number one among its fellow Texas schools; moreover, when compared
  with other small, rural colleges, the institution ranked 14th;
  established in 1898 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, Clarendon
  College serves an enrollment of approximately 1,500 at its three
  campuses in the Panhandle; and
         WHEREAS, By providing students with a high quality education
  and considerable support in reaching their goals, Clarendon College
  has enriched the lives of countless young Texans, and its
  accomplishments are a source of pride to the Lone Star State; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Clarendon College on its selection
  as one of the nation's most successful community colleges by CNN
  Money and extend to all those associated with the institution
  sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the college as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
