R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The well-being of the citizens of Texas depends on |
|
|
economic prosperity throughout the state, and independent |
|
|
businesses that employ Texans and contribute to local economies are |
|
|
important components of a prosperous future; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Polanco's Bakery in Robstown is one such notable |
|
|
establishment, having been a part of the community for more than 70 |
|
|
years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Cruz Santos Polanco opened Polanco's Bakery after |
|
|
coming to Robstown from Lubbock in the mid-1930s; he passed on the |
|
|
business to his son, Marcelino Santos Polanco, in 1946, and his |
|
|
grandson, Marcelino Duarte Polanco, Jr., took over the bakery in |
|
|
1985; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With three generations having guided the business |
|
|
since its creation, Polanco's Bakery is truly a family enterprise, |
|
|
and Mr. Polanco and all those associated with the bakery indeed |
|
|
merit special recognition for their success; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Polanco's Bakery as a longtime Texas |
|
|
institution and extend to all those associated with the business |
|
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the bakery as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
