R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, St. Luke Community United Methodist Church is |
|
|
serving as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site during the 2013 |
|
|
tax season; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Certified by the Internal Revenue Service, VITA |
|
|
centers offer free income tax preparation and filing for low- to |
|
|
moderate-income individuals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The program was established in 1971 by a small group |
|
|
of dedicated accounting students, and since that time it has grown |
|
|
to include sites nationwide, where trained volunteers help tens of |
|
|
thousands of taxpayers each year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By operating as a VITA center, St. Luke Community |
|
|
United Methodist Church is providing important financial |
|
|
assistance to North Texas residents, and it is indeed a pleasure to |
|
|
recognize those who carried out this outstanding community service |
|
|
initiative; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor St. Luke Community United Methodist Church |
|
|
for hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site and commend all |
|
|
those who have volunteered their time and resources to benefit the |
|
|
program; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for St. Luke Community United Methodist Church as an |
|
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
