R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dallas West Church of Christ is serving as a |
|
|
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site during the 2013 tax season; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Certified by the Internal Revenue Service, VITA |
|
|
centers offer free income tax preparation and filing for low- to |
|
|
moderate-income individuals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The program was established in 1971 by a small group |
|
|
of dedicated accounting students, and since that time it has grown |
|
|
to include sites nationwide, where trained volunteers help tens of |
|
|
thousands of taxpayers each year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By operating as a VITA center, Dallas West Church of |
|
|
Christ is providing important financial assistance to North Texas |
|
|
residents, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize those who |
|
|
carried out this outstanding community service initiative; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Dallas West Church of Christ for hosting a |
|
|
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site and commend all those who have |
|
|
volunteered their time and resources to benefit the program; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dallas West Church of Christ as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
