R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life filled with joyful times and meaningful
  accomplishments drew to a close with the passing of Tommie Jones of
  Baytown, who died on October 25, 2012, at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Baytown on September 20, 1931, Tommie Jones
  attended Robert E. Lee High School; he went on to earn his
  bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin, and he
  remained an avid Longhorn fan throughout his life; and
         WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Mr. Jones returned home to
  Baytown to begin a successful career in banking, and he worked at
  Baytown State Bank for many years; after retiring briefly in the
  1990s, he helped establish Gulf Coast Bank, now known as Texas First
  Bank; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was active in his community and
  participated in Kiwanis Club, Lee College Small Business
  Development Center, Texas Exes, Baytown Heritage Society, Shrine
  Club, the La Porte Chamber of Commerce, Scottish Rite, and the
  Baytown Senior Softball League; in addition, he served on a number
  of citizen advisory groups and was awarded for his many community
  efforts by being named the Baytown Sun Citizen of the Year in 2006;
  and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Jones enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Judi, and he took great pride in his
  daughters, Lindy, Nancy, and Judy, and his sons, Tommy, Charles,
  and Darryl; and
         WHEREAS, Although Tommie Jones will be deeply missed,
  memories of time spent in his company will long be treasured by all
  those who were privileged to share in his love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature pay tribute to the life of Tommie Jones and extend
  sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Judi,
  and her three daughters; to his sons, Tommy Jones and his wife,
  Brandy, Charles Jones and his wife, Susan, and Darryl Jones and his
  wife, Karen; to his daughters, Nancy Quayle and her husband, Roger,
  Lindy Fortenberry and her husband, Darrell, and Judy Reidy and her
  husband, John; to his sister, Noreen Booth, and her husband,
  Charlie; to his aunt, Albina Elliott; to his grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tommie
  Jones.
