R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Dallas have greatly benefited from the
  leadership of Pauline Medrano, who has represented District 2 on
  the city council for four terms and is currently serving as mayor
  pro tem; and
         WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Councilmember Medrano is dedicated
  to addressing the needs of her constituents, and she lives by her
  motto, "Your success is determined by how many you help"; during her
  tenure, she has worked diligently to foster a positive economic
  environment in her district and throughout the city, cooperating
  with neighborhood associations, business owners, and developers to
  attract growth; moreover, she strives to unite people to achieve
  practical solutions for the challenges faced by area residents; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her responsibilities as mayor pro
  tem, Councilmember Medrano has served as vice president of the
  Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau and chair of the Public
  Safety Committee for the City of Dallas and the National
  Association of Latino Elected Officials education fund board; she
  has also held leadership positions with the Domestic Violence Task
  Force, the Hispanic Elected Local Officials, the Friends of
  Esperanza "Hope" Medrano Elementary School, and the U.S. Census
  2010 Advisory Committee; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Medrano has worked as a district sales manager
  for the GTECH Corporation, a district director for the Texas
  Department of Agriculture, and a congressional aide to former
  congressman Martin Frost; she has also taught English as a second
  language in the Dallas Independent School District's Adult Basic
  Education Department; a graduate of Leadership Dallas, she holds a
  bachelor's degree in political science from The University of Texas
  at Arlington; and
         WHEREAS, Councilmember Medrano has distinguished herself
  through her outstanding record of public service and civic
  engagement, and in so doing, she has helped to make Dallas an even
  better place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Pauline Medrano for her service as Dallas
  mayor pro tem and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Medrano as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
