R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Allen is benefiting greatly from the
  dedicated leadership of the Honorable Steve Terrell, who has ably
  served his fellow citizens as mayor for the past 16 years; and
         WHEREAS, First appointed in 1997 and reelected for six
  subsequent terms, Mayor Terrell has played a key role in attracting
  commercial projects to the city; he has guided Allen as it has grown
  into a thriving city with more than $8 billion in property values;
  under his leadership, the city has been recognized throughout the
  United States for its high quality of life; it was named one of the
  best places to live by Money magazine, was recognized as the safest
  city in Texas by a City Crime Rankings study, and was ranked as one
  of the 25 best places to move by Forbes; and
         WHEREAS, Mayor Terrell represents the Allen City Council on a
  variety of regional associations, including the Mayor's Committee,
  the Dallas Regional Mobility Committee, the North Texas Commission
  board of directors, and the North Central Texas Council of
  Governments, of which he is currently vice president; from 1991 to
  1997, he served on the City Council in Place No. 5, and he has also
  been involved with the Library Facility Oversight Committee, the
  Allen Community Development Corporation, and the Allen Industrial
  Development Corporation; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mayor Terrell enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Sally, and their two children; the couple
  have lived in Allen since 1980, and they co-own Terrell's Dry
  Cleaning; and
         WHEREAS, For more than a decade and a half, Mayor Terrell has
  led Allen with vision, skill, and a steadfast commitment to
  excellence, and he may take justifiable pride in his exemplary
  record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Steve Terrell for his exceptional service
  as mayor of Allen and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mayor Terrell as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
