R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Edward Arnold Fulbright of Irving on March 9, 2013, at the
  age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Finis Franklin Fulbright and Willie Mae
  Monsey Fulbright, Ed Fulbright was born in Stamford and moved with
  his family to Plano in 1945; there, he met his future wife, Betty Jo
  Collinsworth, and the pair married in 1950 and then settled in
  Irving; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his country's call to duty, Mr. Fulbright
  served in the United States Marine Corps; following his discharge,
  he began his career at Grand Prairie State Bank, and in 1963, he
  purchased Ed's Pawn Shop, which he operated with his wife until his
  retirement in 1986; he also owned Ed's Marine Center and helped
  others in the community to start their own businesses; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his entrepreneurial work,
  Mr. Fulbright was involved in reserve law enforcement for
  approximately 37 years; beginning with a decade at the Irving
  Police Department, he then served 22 years as Dallas County deputy
  constable and later acted as reserve deputy constable in Denton
  County; he retired with the rank of lieutenant; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Fulbright was an active member of his community;
  he enjoyed helping people with disabilities achieve independent
  lifestyles through his work with the National American Business
  Clubs; he served as president of its Irving chapter and as district
  governor, and the organization recognized him with a number of
  awards and a life membership; hosting many social events, he and
  Mrs. Fulbright were known as part of the "Irving Rat Pack," and the
  couple received Irving's High Spirited Citizens Award in 1999;
  Mr. Fulbright was also a valued congregant of the South MacArthur
  Church of Christ; and
         WHEREAS, In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and
  traveling the world with his wife, with whom he shared more than six
  decades; he also took great pride in his children, Debra, David, and
  Darryl, his seven grandchildren, and his six great-grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family and his community, Ed
  Fulbright made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved
  ones and fellow citizens alike, and his contributions will be
  remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Edward Arnold
  Fulbright and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
  to his wife, Betty Fulbright; to his daughter, Debra Kitchens, and
  her husband, Bruce; to his sons, David Fulbright and his wife,
  Beverly, and Darryl Fulbright and his wife, Kay; to his
  granddaughters, Jennifer Boss and her husband, Michael, and Devon
  Fulbright; to his grandsons, Brent Kitchens and his wife, Emery,
  Jason Fulbright, Allen Fulbright and his wife, Crystal, Colin
  Fulbright and his wife, Nicole, and Cameron Fulbright; to his
  great-grandchildren, Meagan and Taylor Boss, Adley and Grant
  Kitchens, and Grayson and Gavin Fulbright; to his sisters, Dorothy
  Lee Pitman, Edna Faye Nanny, and June Locke; to his brother, Tommy
  Fulbright; to his aunt, Wilma Fulbright; to his great-nephew,
  Grayson Fulbright; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Edward
  Fulbright.
