R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jared Fogle's outstanding story of triumph over
  obesity has inspired countless individuals to adopt healthier
  lifestyles; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Fogle has served as the spokesperson for Subway
  restaurants for 15 years, and he has used his celebrity status to
  promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through the Jared
  Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, A leader in the campaign to help children form
  lifelong healthy diet and exercise habits, the Jared Foundation
  provides programs for children ages 6 to 14 and support tools for
  parents, educators, and health care professionals to encourage and
  sustain lifestyle changes; and
         WHEREAS, In carrying out its mission, the Jared Foundation
  has partnered with the Coordinated Approach To Child Health program
  (CATCH), which promotes physical activity and healthy food choices
  among children; research for the program is conducted by the
  Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living at The University of
  Texas School of Public Health Austin Regional Campus; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Fogle and CATCH have also partnered with Fuel Up
  to Play 60, a program conducted by Dairy MAX and the National
  Football League, which is designed to motivate children to eat
  nutritious food and to take part in physical activity on a daily
  basis; and
         WHEREAS, Jared Fogle has had a profound impact on the lives of
  innumerable people, and it is indeed fitting that he be recognized
  for his contributions to improving the health of children and
  adults in Texas and across the country; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Jared Fogle on his exceptional efforts
  to address the problem of childhood obesity and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Fogle as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
