R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Phyllis Scott McGee Geiger of Dallas, who passed away on August
  17, 2012, at the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, "Scotty" Geiger was born to Laurence and Phyllis
  Thomson McGee on March 5, 1935; after graduating from Sunset High
  School in Dallas, she attended the University of North Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply involved in her community, Mrs. Geiger
  cofounded Canterbury Episcopal School in Desoto, and she
  volunteered at Our Friends Place, an organization dedicated to
  helping at-risk young girls and women succeed; a talented
  seamstress, she made costumes for the Mountain View Community
  College theatrical group, and she caringly sponsored many people
  through her participation in Alcoholics Anonymous; in addition, she
  served as president of the Oak Cliff Woman's Club and as chair of
  the club's trust foundation, and she held a seat on the board of the
  Wynnewood Lake Association; and
         WHEREAS, Scotty Geiger was the devoted wife of Richard
  Geiger, her childhood sweetheart, whom she married on June 4, 1954,
  and the loving mother of five children, Scott, Angela, Margaret,
  Claire, and Amy; and
         WHEREAS, Cherished by her family and by a host of friends,
  Scotty Geiger led a purposeful life of faith and service, and those
  who were blessed to share in the warmth of her affection will
  forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Phyllis Scott McGee
  Geiger and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
  to her husband, Richard Geiger; to her children, Scott Geiger and
  his wife, Kathleen, Angela Geiger, Margaret Geiger, Claire Vail and
  her husband, Kevin, and Amy McCarty and her husband, Frank; to her
  grandchildren and their spouses, Elisabeth Allard, Andrew and
  Krista Allard, John and Lisa Allard, Stuart Geiger, Audrey Scott
  Geiger, Richard and Fernanda Lau, Laurence Lau, Cecilia Lau, Grace
  Walworth, Charles Walworth, Emily McCarty, Rachel McCarty, and Ian
  McCarty; to her uncle, John McGee; and to her many other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Phyllis
  Scott McGee Geiger.
