  H.R. No. 1415
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Those Texans who give of their time and talents to
  benefit the larger community make the world a better place through
  their actions and their example, and James R. Perry of Fort Worth,
  who passed away on February 25, 2013, at the age of 77, was indeed
  one such person; and
         WHEREAS, James Perry was born in Shamrock on December 1,
  1935, to Charles B. Perry and Sunshine G. Perry; he graduated from
  Odessa High School in 1954 and subsequently earned a degree from the
  University of Oklahoma, where he was president of the OU chapter of
  Phi Delta Theta; he served his country in the United States Army and
  attained the rank of captain; and
         WHEREAS, A leader in the banking industry, Mr. Perry worked
  at City National Bank and Trust in Oklahoma City, at State National
  Bank in Odessa, and finally at the First National Bank of Fort
  Worth, which eventually became NCNB Texas; he retired in 1989 as
  chair of both NCNB Texas Fort Worth and of the Texas Region of NCNB;
  and
         WHEREAS, This highly accomplished gentleman contributed
  greatly to his community as well and was active in numerous civic
  organizations, including the United Way of Tarrant County, which he
  served as president and as chair of the board of trustees; he also
  presided over the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County,
  served as a treasurer of the Fort Worth Corporation, and served as
  vice president of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce; he further
  distinguished himself as chair of the chamber's foundation; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to fulfilling these commitments, Mr.
  Perry held a seat on the board of directors of the Colorado River
  Municipal Water District and served as a trustee of the Harris
  Methodist Health System, as governor and treasurer of the Fort
  Worth Club, and as an executive committee member of the Southwest
  Exposition and Livestock Show; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Perry enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, June, and he was the proud father of two
  sons, Jeffrey and Joel; he had the pleasure of welcoming into his
  family a daughter-in-law, Denise, and four grandchildren, Jordan,
  Caprice, Jim, and Mike; and
         WHEREAS, James Perry lived a rich and purposeful life, and he
  will long be remembered with deep affection by those who were
  privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James R. Perry and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, June Perry; to his sons, Jeffrey and Joel Perry; to his
  daughter-in-law, Denise Perry; to his grandchildren, Jordan,
  Caprice, Jim, and Mike Perry; to his brothers, Charles Perry and his
  wife, Jo, and Ken Perry and his wife, Mary Dean; to his
  sister-in-law, Barbara Vaughn Skelton; and to his other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James R.
  Perry.
