R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
  passing of Clyde R. Butter, Sr., of Odessa on February 24, 2013, at
  the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Sheldon on September 20, 1930, Mr. Butter
  was the son of Robert and Ethel Butter; he attended the University
  of Houston, and a brief position at a local radio station sparked
  his desire to work in the media; after serving his country in the
  United States Navy during the Korean War, he embarked on a
  distinguished career in broadcasting; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Butter became a radio, television, and stage
  personality, and he launched an innovative service, Capital
  Broadcast News, in the state capital; his passion for politics led
  him to run for the state house of representatives, and he was later
  elected to the office of reading clerk for the house; he went on to
  interview many elected officials as the owner of radio station KRIL
  in Odessa, and his stories aired nationally on such CBS news
  programs as 60 Minutes; moreover, he wrote four books, among them a
  professional autobiography entitled Theater of the Mind: Three
  Quarters of a Century of Radio Across Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Butter maintained his
  interest in activities he shared with his father as a boy, including
  building, working with his hands, and spending time outdoors, and
  he carried on his mother's appreciation for classical literature
  and the arts; he was devoted to his family and to his cherished
  pets, and he was a valued member of the Lutheran Church of the Risen
  Lord; and
         WHEREAS, Although Clyde Butter will be deeply missed, he will
  always be remembered with great admiration and affection by those
  who were privileged to share in the richness of his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Clyde R. Butter,
  Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Charlene Butter; to his sons, Dr. Donovan Butter and his
  fiancée, Rita Bell, Michael Butter, Clyde R. Butter, Jr., and his
  wife, Susie, and Michael Cameron and his wife, Amber; to his
  grandchildren, Matthew, Haley, Valerie, Andrea, and Natalie
  Butter, Chris Holman, and Lillian Beatrice Cameron; to his
  great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, and Ava Butter, Hallie, Jacob,
  and Caleb Bates, Christopher and Riley Holman, and Lily Huth; to his
  brothers, Donovan Butter and his wife, Sylvia, and James Robert
  "Bob" Butter and his wife, Carol Ann; and to his many other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Clyde
  Butter.
