R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Judy Telge, president of the League of Women Voters
  of Corpus Christi, is being honored at the organization's annual
  meeting on May 17, 2013, for her outstanding service to the Corpus
  Christi chapter; and
         WHEREAS, Since becoming president in 2011, Ms. Telge has
  helped to expand the LWV-CC and enhance its diversity by bringing
  together members of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and
  abilities; during the 2012 election, in keeping with the
  organization's mission, she oversaw the use of the League of Women
  Voters Education Fund to support the "Vote 18 Project," which
  encouraged high school students in the area to become civically
  engaged; as a result of these efforts, more than 600 students
  registered to vote; and
         WHEREAS, Known throughout the community for her integrity and
  dedication to her community, Ms. Telge exemplifies the principles
  of the League of Women Voters in her personal and professional life;
  she currently serves as interim executive director of the Coastal
  Bend Center for Independent Living, which she cofounded, and she
  works as a mediator with the Key Bridge Foundation Center for
  Mediation, focusing specifically on resolving disputes involving
  the Americans with Disabilities Act; in addition, she is active in
  numerous organizations, including the Employment Alliance for
  People with Disabilities of the Coastal Bend and the City of Corpus
  Christi Emergency Operations Functional Needs Committee, and she
  has advocated for the full inclusion of people with disabilities at
  public events; and
         WHEREAS, Through her energetic, determined leadership, Judy
  Telge has helped to draw more citizens into the political process
  and to make that process more accessible to area residents, and in
  so doing, she has contributed to empowering countless fellow Texans
  and to strengthening the social fabric and governing process of her
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Judy Telge for her exceptional service
  as president of the League of Women Voters of Corpus Christi and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Telge as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
