R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Artists from the San Elizario Historic Art District
  are gathering in the State Capitol from May 6 to 9, 2013, to
  participate in the District 75 Art Show, El Paso County; and
         WHEREAS, Tracing its roots to a Spanish settlement founded in
  the 1750s, the San Elizario Historic Art District is a unique
  community in El Paso County that has become a center of artistic
  activity in the past several years; developed by local artists with
  local funds, this three-block area in the center of the city
  contains some 17 historical sites and more than 40 galleries, as
  well as museums, studios, and shops, representing the work of over
  100 artists; and
         WHEREAS, The District 75 Art Show will include the work of
  Amado Pena, Barry Johnson, Bert Saldana, Al Borrego, Maria Branch,
  Melissa Himes, Guadalupe Jacquez Calderon, Alberto Escamilla,
  Jorge Rodriguez, Rob Mack, Arturo Avalos, and Palmira Lopez, among
  others; and
         WHEREAS, The artists of the San Elizario Historic Art
  District have greatly contributed to the cultural vitality of their
  community, and their participation in the District 75 Art Show at
  the Capitol presents a welcome opportunity for many Texans to
  appreciate their work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the artists of the San Elizario Historic
  Art District and extend to them sincere best wishes for a productive
  and enjoyable visit to Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the San Elizario Historic Art District as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
