R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Cheryl Mayo Williams stepped down from her post as
  executive director of West Dallas Community Centers, Inc., on
  February 27, 2013, to assume her new duties as senior director of
  community and government relations with the Children's Health and
  Wellness Alliance at Children's Medical Center in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Williams took the helm of WDCC in 2009 and
  managed fund-raising and program implementation for the youth
  development organization; she also oversaw an annual budget of $1.4
  million, as well as $2 million in assets, and guided a full-time
  staff of 15 in serving some 1,500 families and more than 600 youth;
  in recognition of her work, she received commendation for
  Outstanding Leadership from the City of Dallas and the 2012 Gail
  Reese Ward Excellence in Mentoring Award from Southern Methodist
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Before her appointment to lead WDCC, Ms. Williams
  served as president and CEO of Mayo Consulting Associates,
  providing on-site administrative, clinical, and human resources
  assistance for AIDS service organizations in the southern United
  States; she holds a bachelor's degree in business management from
  Fisk University and a master's degree in public health and health
  care administration from Meharry Medical College; earlier in her
  career, she interned for a year under Dr. Louis Sullivan when he
  served as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and then
  joined the staff of Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas,
  where she served first as an administrative resident and later as
  administrative director of strategic planning and administration
  and as director of human resource relations; in addition, she
  worked for several years as vice president of human resources for
  Columbia/HCA-Arlington; and
         WHEREAS, A cofounder and former president of the Dallas/Fort
  Worth Chapter of the National Association of Health Services
  Executives, Ms. Williams now serves as co-chair of the Dallas
  County District 3 Public Health Advisory Council; in addition, she
  is a member of the Health Advisory Council for Congresswoman Eddie
  Bernice Johnson; and
         WHEREAS, Supportive of numerous community organizations, Ms.
  Williams is actively involved in St. Luke "Community" United
  Methodist Church, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the Dallas Women's
  Foundation, and KWANZAAFEST, as well as the Dallas Chapter of The
  Links, Inc., and the public service sorority Delta Sigma Theta; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and
  support of her husband, Reginald B. Williams; and
         WHEREAS, Through her exemplary leadership, Cheryl Mayo
  Williams has greatly benefited West Dallas Community Centers,
  furthering its efforts to help local youth succeed, and it is a
  privilege to recognize the critical skills and dedication that she
  continues to bring to the field of social services; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Cheryl Mayo Williams on her notable tenure
  as executive director of West Dallas Community Centers and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
